My daughter sent me a TikTok of a similar recipe so I looked up a couple of recipes and changed a few things to make it my own. The syrup is optional but not even necessary because they are THAT good (however the powdered sugar topping is a must for the finishing touch)!
STUFFED CINNAMON HAWAIIAN ROLLS
INGREDIENTS
- 24 Hawaiian Rolls
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup (+ 1 Tablespoon) butter
- 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon
- 2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 3 teaspoons vanilla
CINNAMON FILLING (& TOPPING)
- 1 cup of butter, melted
- 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
CREAM CHEESE FILLING
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoon vanilla
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees and grease a 9 x 13 pan.
- Melt 1 Tablespoon of butter and spread on the bottom of the pan.
- Arrange rolls in pan and and make a cross on top of each roll (only cut 2/3 of the way down because the filling will go inside).
- Melt 1 cup butter, cinnamon, 1 tsp. vanilla and brown sugar and spoon a little of the mixture into each roll.
- Beat together cream cheese, egg, 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and 2 teaspoons vanilla.
- Place mixture into each roll (if you don't have a cupcake injector you can use a Ziploc bag and cut a corner to squeeze the mixture inside).
- Bring remaining melted butter mixture to a boil and immediately pour over the rolls.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until rolls are golden brown on top.
- Sprinkle powdered sugar and syrup on top and enjoy!
